Are you an avid exercise enthusiast? Here are several things you might be doing wrong at the gym:

Run for a Very Long Time

Running or jogging is the choice form of exercising for many people. Running is easy. You either get on a treadmill, or go out the front door, and plug in your earphones and off you go. You can run for hours listening to music, and you probably do. Now, there are different types of running. Jogging or running for a long times is a form of endurance exercise. These burn your soft tissues as well as fat, and you will get a haggardly look. On the other hand, sprinting is a fat burning exercising. It will make you lose weight and tone your muscles.

Doing Only Cardio

As cardio exercising like running or jumping rope is relatively easy, many become used to doing cardio exclusively. This is a mistake. Cardio, exercises that increases your heart rate and makes you sweat, are great for burning fat. But, you should also build muscles to keep off weight, and that’s why cardio should be combined with strength training exercises. If squats and deadlifts are too much for you, complement your jogging sessions with some Pilates or hot yoga.

Wearing Cotton

Don’t ever wear cotton to the gym. The material, though comfortable during everyday wear, absorbs sweat quickly. Your cotton outfit would then become heavy and make you uncomfortable. You won’t be able to give your best if you are thinking about going home and changing clothes. So, make sure you buy the best body workout clothes that are made from synthetic material with “wicking” ability. Wicking fabrics can keep sweat off your skin and allow heat to escape.

Skipping Stretching

You don’t need to stretch before exercising. But you do need to afterwards. They are important for keeping your muscles in shape. Stretching increases blood flow to the muscles, and therefore may reduce exercise induced muscle soreness later. They are important for improving your flexibility. The more flexible you are, the better your exercises regimen would be. You can also try Pilates in Singapore and hot yoga to improve your flexibility.

So, next time you are at the gym or the jogging trail, avoid making the above mistakes. Research how to exercise properly, and fix your fitness routine accordingly. As a professional athlete, a physiotherapist or your doctor about how to excursive without harming your health. Also, don’t forget to eat healthy. Ditch the junk food in favor of healthy fruits and veggies to make your life better and longer.
